On my way to exchange some pedals at a local used bike/part store I stumbled across a 20" Trek 800 'Antelope' frame. It already has a bottom bracket, as well as front brake calipers and both derailluers. I'm planning to buy some drop bars, 650c wheels (and 650x1.5 semi-slick tires to go with them), and some gnarly, shin-meat-loving pedals. Then, I'll scrap the derailluers (saving them for later use) and add a home-brewed chain tensioner. Other than the aforementioned components, I have all the things I need to make this previously unloved frame into a fun SS cyclocross bike! :) While I think that 650c wheels are a tad bit small for truly competitive cyclocross, I don't really plan to race this bike too heavily. It's more of a fun winter side project :) Here are some more pics:

Pilot Post
Now we start the adventure into the wild and crazy world of fixed gear mtb and cyclocross. My goal with this blog is to delve deeper into the misunderstood realm of FG offroad riding. I hope you enjoy this escapade as much as I will, and would also like to apologize for what will probably end up being infrequent posts.
